A gaming party!!!
It was just a 7 year old birthday party. The idea: gaming.
We brought three TVs downstairs from various bedrooms upstairs, for a grand total of four televisions in the living room. We hooked two up to PS5s and two to Nintendo Switches. In the end, the kids couldn’t get enough of two games: Minecraft, and keepy-uppy (a balloon game made famous from the show Bluey). Note to self: adults love Mario kart and party. Kids love Minecraft and balloons. Keep it simple!
We hosted a full bar (Simple with basic mixers, liquors, beer, and wine-one red, one white), juice boxes, sodas, and water bottles were kept in coolers.
A hors d’oeuvres table was set up with both kid friendly and adult favorites: peanut butter and jelly tea sandwiches sat next to bruschetta with the toasts ready to be topped with either traditional tomato or spicy olive tapenade. Nutella roll ups were a favorite, along with Brie bites, prosciutto-melon skewers, chips, and cheese puffs!
The dessert table had rice crispy treats, mini cupcakes, brownie bites, orange cheese cake bites and (A crowd favorite) 7 layer bars.
Later we bought pizzas and put out a quick Caesar salad. And, of course, a 3/4 sheet cake, themed Minecraft.
Putting together all the elements is always a lot of fun for me, trying to think of new ways to present things that are functional and fun!
